Story Studio is ESI Media’s dedicated commercial content creation team.  We bring together content and creative expertise from the wider ESI business, leveraging the influence of our brands, The Independent and London Evening Standard. We work closely with clients to produce multiplatform native and branded content campaigns.

Key responsibilities

We are looking for a highly creative leader with extensive experience in editorial art direction and magazine design, to create a dynamic and visually engaging publication that upholds the strong reputation of the ES magazine brand.

The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a fast-paced weekly environment and be contributing inspirational ideas, producing great layouts and adhering to tight deadlines. A flair for fashion and an understanding of current visual trends is a must.

DUTIES:

  • Overseeing the art direction for the magazine across all pages, and working closely with the editor and feature teams on developing highly creative visual ideas for all features, within set budget and deadlines

Story Studio is ESI Media’s commercial, ‘in-house agency’. We help third-party client brands tell their stories and inspire audiences to engage and respond by producing innovative content ideas. Our campaigns are born out of data and insight utilising print, video, social, live events and television. Story Studio is comprised of the content team, design team, project management team and the communications team.

Main purpose of the role:

 You will be responsible for creating and fulfilling online, social and print marketing communications, for ESI Media’s portfolio of brands, to market and drive revenue from our programme of promotions, reader offers and affiliate partnerships. 

Key duties and responsibilities: 

  • Working closely with the ESI commercial teams to develop and deliver promotions/reader offers/affiliate partnerships, to appear in-paper and online.
  • Managing the creative output for these areas across The Evening Standard, standard.co.uk and independent.co.uk, including print artwork, online article pages, website traffic drivers, e-newsletters and social media:
    • Writing copy, briefing in design work, managing approval of all creative and ensuring scheduled deadlines are met
    • Work with the legal team to ensure that competitions, offers and creative work are compliant and have appropriate Terms & Conditions.
    • Manage all competitions etc to ensure that all stated Terms are fulfilled appropriately.
  • Liaising with clients and partners to achieve their objectives and our revenue targets and deliver the projects, including obtaining appropriate approvals at each stage of the project.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the success of campaigns and individual communications, responding to data reports and results, and proactively considering new approaches whilst remaining sensitive to the day-to-day requirements of the role.

The ES Digital Audience team

The Evening Standard’s Audience team delivers data-driven, SEO and social content across all verticals: News, Sport, Lifestyle, Entertainment and Homes & Property.

The fast-growing team implements owned, earned and paid strategies for growth both on and off-platform, acting as a two-way point of communication between editors and audiences. Job Purpose:

The Evening Standard website (standard.co.uk) is seeking a talented and enthusiastic social media video producer with a passion for news, experience in community management and creating social media video content. The candidate will be responsible for off-platform video across News, Sport, Lifestyle, Going Out and Entertainment, as well as producing shareable native video content. A Growth Editor is needed to lead and deliver ESHP social media and SEO strategies. This role will oversee a small multi-disciplinary team in London and work closely with our data science team and senior editorial leaders to grow and engage audiences across all platforms in new and exciting ways.

We are looking for an innovative and results-driven leader who can use data to develop best practices and actionable insights. Reporting directly to the Director of Digital, Editorial, you will work closely with editors to set coverage priorities and expand the Evening Standard in London, the UK and internationally. You will be an expert in the digital media landscape, aware of new and emerging trends and bring significant experience within media, covering news, culture and/or entertainment. This is an important new role in a key growth area.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage our social media and SEO team, collaborating with editorial, data science, commercial, our in-house agency and senior leadership.
  • Oversee all ESHP social media platforms including an overview of posts on all platforms across the entire operation.

The ES digital news team delivers breaking news and quality journalism covering politics, health, transport, education and crime. The team, of around a dozen reporters, delivers quality cross-platform content for a global urban audience.

We are looking for a talented journalist to join our team of news reporters to deliver original, high quality and engaging stories to our audience as the team and site expands.

Job Purpose:

You will write and publish news stories for one of the UK’s fastest growing online news brands. You will be part of a team of around 12 reporters covering breaking news, politics, crime, health, education and transport. Working to the news editor or their assistant, you will pitch original ideas as well as completing assignments handed to you. The Independent is looking to build on its already strong video offering by creating a new senior role for a Video Editor to lead a growing team of four video journalists.

The successful candidate should have good experience of creating video for a major web publisher, as well as having some experience of leading a team.

The current video content falls into the following categories:

  • exclusive (shot and edited) stories that either stand-alone or accompany written reports
  • best use of video content acquired from other major publishers and agencies

This role requires an outstanding Analyst who can provide regular and proactive business insights to the content team from a variety of data sources used by the publisher, in particular social media, SEO and video analytics.
