The Role:

To develop the ad hoc and contract syndication of content for new and existing clients on behalf of Independent Digital News & Media Ltd (IDNML) and Evening Standard Limited (ESL). To recognise potential new business and act as an ambassador for content from The Independent and Evening Standard.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the ad hoc and contract sales processes, ensuring an efficient, professional and responsive service is offered to all existing and new clients. This will include organising and contributing to continuous daytime cover for ad hoc phone and email requests.
  • Proactively identifying and pursuing new syndication markets under the guidance of the Content Sales Manager.
  • Identifying development potential in existing accounts by studying current client spend; identifying and evaluating additional needs for up-sell potential.
  • Initiating sales process by building relationships and qualifying potential while forging strong, lasting relationships with key clients.
  • Leading the acquisition of corporate and academic subscriptions to the Independent Daily Edition.
  • Keeping accurate and clear records of sales as well as account plans for clients and regular ad hoc clients.
  • Assisting the Content Sales Manager in managing and growing all syndication points of sale (e.g. highlights emails and syndication interface).
  • Working with the rest of the Syndication team to support other licensing activities and to explore and take on new business opportunities that arise.
  • Contributing industry information and client feedback to sales strategies by evaluating current products offered by competitors.
  • Maintaining market knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhancing department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Forging strong, lasting relationships with key clients.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Great understanding of the sales and buying process a must with knowledge of the corporate and educational sectors.
  • Not afraid of cold calling as most sales development will be over the phone; explaining and introducing products and services, negotiating terms and fees.
  • Proven sales and prospecting skills, ideally with news syndication experience or equivalent knowledge of the rights clearance process (eg. image, music, editorial).
  • Exceptional presentation skills and a willingness to act as a brand ambassador at conferences and industry events.
  • Proven contact building and customer relations ability including experience in building relationships with clients within the UK and in other countries and cultures.
  • Very strong work ethic and ability to organise and multitask.
  • Proactive, self-starting approach to developing new business and a strong account management and record-keeping ethic.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills and an ability to work to deadlines with a high level of accuracy and detail.
  • Flexibility (e.g. travelling out of hours and working on syndication and licensing tasks not directly defined in this role).
  • Familiarity with the ESI titles and websites.

Job purpose:

Be the first point of contact for managers and employees for all administrative matters and ensure that all systems and processes are up-to-date.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities – what is delivered:

  • Manage all administration related to our payrolls, from ensuring that all the information required is received on time to creating and formatting data for uploading into the payroll system and inputting accurately to tight deadlines.
  • Create and run reports and analysis for Payroll and Benefits Manager.
  • Responsible for the administration for all starters, leavers, contract changes, including creating offer letters and contracts.
  • First point of contact for new starters in relation to legislative requirements, ensuring the process is smooth.
  • Responsible for all payroll, benefit, rewards and pension administration and queries.
  • Process third party payment reports for finance colleagues.
  • Provide support for HR projects.
  • Responsible for the administration of training courses and employee surveys.
  • Provide Head HR and the team with regular and ad hoc reports.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the HR information in the company intranet.
  • Provide support to recruitment campaigns.
  • Manage all processes associated with invoice payments, including liaising with our finance team and outside companies.
  • Assist colleagues on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Undertake all related administration for matters you are dealing with including updating HR records and files.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in payroll and HR administration.
  • Strong communicator, can explain complex matters in a straightforward way, whether in person or in writing, know when not to use jargon.
  • You have strong data analysis and excel skills and are proficient in word and power point.
  • A full HR qualification is not necessary, you may be working towards it or may have gained your knowledge on the job.

Working across the group providing a full strategic and operational HR remit from generalist to specialist including talent management, payroll, benefits and advice on international placements. The team works closely together in a flat structure.

The Role

ESI’s mission is to reach and grow high-value global audiences with world-class content produced by talented experts; and to be tireless innovators in the way we engage with those consumers and generate value for ESI and our commercial partners.

The interim Reporting Analyst will support project work in our advertising operations team by collecting and analysing data and reporting and measuring the performance of test scenarios.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that required reporting is done in an accurate and timely manner to ensure complete and accurate revenue recognition
  • Provision, track, measure and analyse the performance of multiple campaigns
  • Regularly compare campaign objectives vs. performance data for maximising advertiser ROI
  • Highlight any identified issues and reports

Required skills and experience

  • Substantial experience in data analysis and an understanding of networks, SSP, programmatic partners and landscapes, ad agencies and other similar environments.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a high-paced environment.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise own workload, and deliver accurate information on time to a high standard.
  • Robust analytical abilities and quantitative skills including experience of providing reporting and optimization analysis
  • Expertise in MS Office with advanced Excel skills – day to day activities will involve working with a large amount of data sets and formulas.
  • Knowledge of RTB, audience data collection, ad network strategies, audience targeting best practice, ad serving, media reporting and analytics in web/mobile/video is desirable.
